Iranian child artists awarded at Indian painting competition

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) -- Sixteen Iranian children who are members of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) were awarded medals and honorary diplomas at Shankar’s On-the-Spot Painting Competition in New Delhi, India on October 8, which was World Children’s Day.

A total of 29 paintings by Iranian child artists were submitted to the competition, 11 of which were awarded silver medals and honorary diplomas.

 

The winners of the silver medals and honorary diplomas were Sara Mohammad Amani from Gonbad-e Kavus, Fatemeh Almaszadeh from Bushehr, Ayshin Akbarzadeh and Farzaneh Azimi from Urumieh, Sohrab Mozaffari from Gorgan, Razieh Behjati, Shiva Puladi and Zahra Ayyubi from Isfahan, Aida Kahali from Maku, Roqiyeh Tahani from Tehran, and Farnaz Nateqi from Gorgan.

 

In addition, Azadeh Mohammadi from Kermanshah, Mojgan Pur-Mortazavi from Ardakan, and Nilufar Matinfar, Golnaz Emami, and Armin Habibi from Tehran received the special medal of the competition.

 

Shankar’s On-the-Spot Painting Competition has been held annually in New Delhi since 1952. Children from across the globe participate in the competition.

 

There are sections for children 5–8 years old, 9–12 years old, and 13–16 years old. In the competition, the children are assigned various themes to paint pictures about. The 125 winning paintings are later put on display at an exhibition.
